ISBN-10 : 3642131522 ,PDF (in RAR archive) Size 925 KB

Description
The intention of this booklet is a brief but general introduction into the treatment of the Finite Element Method (FEM). The FEM has become the leading method in computer–oriented mechanics, so that many scientific branches have grown up besides over the last decades. Nevertheless, the FEM today is a question of economy.

On the one hand its industrial application is forced to reduce product development costs and time, on the other hand a large number of commercial FEM codes and a still growing number of software for effective pre– and postprocessors are available in the meantime.

Paperback: 187 pages
Publisher: Vieweg and Teubner (November 1, 2009)
ISBN-10: 3528032197, PDF file, 2 Mb

Description
The book first describes connections between some basic problems and technics of combinatorics and statistical physics. The discrete mathematics and physics terminology are related to each other.

Using the established connections, some exciting activities in one field are shown from a perspective of the other field. The purpose of the book is to emphasize these interactions as a strong and successful tool. In fact, this attitude has been a strong trend in both research communities recently.

It also naturally leads to many open problems, some of which seem to be basic. Hopefully, this book will help making these exciting problems attractive to advanced students and researchers.

Modern Differential Geometry in Gauge Theories: YangMills Fields, Volume II

By Anastasios Mallios
Publisher: Birkhäuser Boston
Pages: 234, Date: 2009-11-27
Size : 2.23 MB, File Type : rar pdf

Description:
Differential geometry, in the classical sense, is developed through the theory of smooth manifolds. Modern differential geometry from the author’s perspective is used in this work to describe physical theories of a geometric character without using any notion of calculus (smoothness).

Instead, an axiomatic treatment of differential geometry is presented via sheaf theory (geometry) and sheaf cohomology (analysis).

Using vector sheaves, in place of bundles, based on arbitrary topological spaces, this unique approach in general furthers new perspectives and calculations that generate unexpected potential applications.

Modern Differential Geometry in Gauge Theories is a two-volume research monograph that systematically applies a sheaf-theoretic approach to such physical theories as gauge theory. Volume 1 focused on Maxwell fields. Continuing in Volume II, the author extends the application of his sheaf-theoretic approach to Yang–Mills fields in general.

The important topics include: cohomological classification of Yang–Mills fields, the geometry of Yang–Mills A-connections and moduli space of a vector sheaf, as well as Einstein's equation in vacuum.

The text contains a wealth of detailed and rigorous computations and will appeal to mathematicians and physicists, along with advanced undergraduate and graduate students, interested in applications of differential geometry to physical theories such as general relativity, elementary particle physics and quantum gravity.

ISBN-10 : 0521763665, PDF 4 MB's Full

Description:
The properties of new nanoscale materials, their fabrication and applications, as well as the operational principles of nanodevices and systems, are solely determined by quantum-mechanical laws and principles. This textbook introduces engineers to quantum mechanics and the world of nanostructures, enabling them to apply the theories to numerous nanostructure problems.

The textbook covers the fundamentals of quantum mechanics, including uncertainty relations, the Schrödinger equation, perturbation theory, and tunneling. These are then applied to a quantum dot, the smallest artificial atom, and compared to hydrogen, the smallest atom in nature.

Nanoscale objects with higher dimensionality, such as quantum wires and quantum wells, are introduced, as well as nanoscale materials and nanodevices. Numerous examples throughout the text help students to understand the material.

Symmetries of Integro-Differential Equations: With Applications in Mechanics and Plasma Physics

By Springer | 2010-09-11 | ISBN: 9048137969
316 pages | PDF | 12 MB

This book aims to coherently present applications of group analysis to integro-differential equations in an accessible way. The book will be useful to both physicists and mathematicians interested in general methods to investigate nonlinear problems using symmetries.

Differential and integro-differential equations, especially nonlinear, present the most effective way for describing complex processes.

Therefore, methods to obtain exact solutions of differential equations play an important role in physics, applied mathematics and mechanics.

This book provides an easy to follow, but comprehensive, description of the application of group analysis to integro-differential equations.

The book is primarily designed to present both fundamental theoretical and algorithmic aspects of these methods. It introduces new applications and extensions of the group analysis method. The authors have designed a flexible text for postgraduate courses spanning a variety of topics.
