A great resource for students of conversational English. Although most of the entries are common to American English, it's a British publication, so some are uncommon in the USA: last out, chat up, ring off, etc.

I suggest you GO THROUGH this book if you find yourself GOING UP AGAINST phrasal verbs that don't GO BY the regular rules of grammar. Before I found it, I didn't know how to GO ABOUT helping my adult ESL students understand these ubiquitous phrasals. I don't want to GO ON AND ON, but these forms aren't going to GO AWAY, so GO AHEAD and get this book. It has a lot GOING FOR it!

This pocket-book is very practical. It illustrates examples showing the most common Phrasal Verbs in English. Another good feature displays the main word, usually a verb, in capital letters. Then it shows common applications using that verb, accompanied now by a particle( v.gr. HIT= hit it off, hit on/upon, hit back, etc.).
I recommend this book, particularly for those like me who are not native English speakers, and want to make improvements on it, by adding another English Grammar-based book to their collection, in the hard task of mastering the language.
